Brauny is a young male pit bull. He was found several months ago in an abandoned residence, unable to walk or even lift his head, weighing less than 30 pounds. When he was found, his head was resting in a grease-caked skillet, which was probably the only food source in the area, and he had used the last of his strength to pull himself over to it. His prior owner, who had "rescued" him into this situation, was arrested and is facing charges. Brauny also ended up in the Gwinnett County Jail, although his confinement is a much more positive one.
Despite his prior experiences, he is a lovely, loving boy. He has an outgoing, friendly personality, and loves playing with other dogs. While he has recovered much of his strength and activity level, he suffered permanent damage due to his starvation and is considered special needs. He is available for adoption, but may require special care for the remainder of his life. We do know that despite his needs, whoever takes Brauny home will be a lucky person indeed, for the love this dog shows for his people is incredible - as is typical of his breed.
Due to his history and condition, Brauny must be adopted within the metro Atlanta area. Donations towards the cost of his care and medications are gratefully appreciated.
UPDATE: Brauny has been adopted into a wonderful family with many dog brothers and sisters, and a mom well equipped to handle his special needs. Live long and thrive, little man!
These pictures are from Brauny's first week at the jail. He had spent some time prior to this at Gwinnett County Animal Control, until he was strong enough to be transferred.
